High Point First Responder Bazilian Jiu Jitsu Program is a combination donation (501(c)3) based and free training program that allows full time City of High Point police officer's, fire fighters, and paramedics (First Responders) to train at ECOS BJJ, a Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school under Team Pedro Sauer. All First Responders membership will be paid in full until they reach the rank of Blue belt. Blue belt is the second ranked belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and on average it takes around 12 to 18 months to obtain.
All participants will also receive a free gi, t-shirt, and membership in the Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association.
Most individuals with a blue belt level of knowledge has an immense advantage in controlling a combative situation over someone who has no knowledge or experience in grappling regardless of size, strength or even gender to an extent.
Being a First Responder is one of the most selfless, dangerous and important jobs in the world today. Many people have called to defund the police but we believe that is not the best solution being that law and order is absolutely necessary in order to have a safe and functional society. We believe more and better training is the solution to creating a resilient and more effective police force and entire First Responder community.
Often times First Responders find themselves in combative situations that can turn deadly and during these times being the more skilled grappler can potentially save the lives of not only the First Responders but the suspects as well.
If First Responders felt more confident in their abilities to control potentially combative situations, they would be less likely to draw their weapons out of fear for their own safety.
Having the necessary skills in order to control the situation will lead to less opportunities for a combative situation to escalate by keeping suspects from getting to and gaining control of First Responders weapons and/or putting the First Responders in vulnerable positions where they feel the need to use deadly force.
To all the First Responders out there, thank you for your service and to all the people who donate and contribute to this program, thank you for your support! Please share this information and help spread the word in order to get as many First Responders into training as possible!
While this training may appear to be more applicable to police officers, we believe that many emergency calls involve multiple First Responder departments. The more people on scene with jiu jitsu training the better.
The Basics:
· This is an attendance based program. First Responders are required to attend at least 5 classes per month. We monitor attendance through the Pedro Sauer Affiliate program.
· Post a photo at least once a month on Instagram tagging @ecosgraciejiujitsu with a caption reflecting how the training and this program are benefiting you as a First Responder, etc. You may create one under an alias if you are concerned or obligated by your department; posting is mandatory in order to create content for our page and encourage more people to donate.
· If you miss 3 weeks of training your sponsorship will be revoked so that other First Responders who want to train will have that opportunity.
· You are required to let us know if you get injured and are not able to train.
The Process:
· After submitting your application an email will be sent informing you of your acceptance to the High Point First Responders BJJ program.
· Once enrolled you are required to put a form of payment on file with the gym and make $50 monthly payments. Provided you meet “The Basics” above you will receive a $50 credit on your next month’s training fee - bringing the payment to zero.
· At this point you will be officially enrolled in the High Point First Responders BJJ program. We will then track your attendance monthly.
